Dot SE Domain Names

The dot SE country-code extension was created in 1986 and delegated to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration procedure was pretty restrictive, so a very limited number of domain names were obtained. Individuals were permitted to get no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a requirement, i.e. merely Swedish individuals, commercial entities and organizations could grab a dot SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized significantly and, consequently, the number of .SE domains has been increasing each year.
